Allan Weisbecker, one of our favourite surfer/authors who wrote the Cosmic Banditos and In Search of Captain Zero, has been working on a surf memoir film titled ‘Water Time; Surf Travel of a MadMan’. Shooting for the film started back in 2008 so it has been in production for a while.
From Karim Rejeb two stop motion films, at 7 and 8 minutes respectively you can only imagine how much love, effort and time went into the making of these two suburb short films.
Lino – posted on YouTube March 2010 – “the pursuit of prefect waves in the plastic world”;
As part of the series South Pacific, which aired in the UK in 2009, the BBC set about filming “monster waves… in super slow motion”, the first shots of their kind ever recorded. The series claims to be the first to have filmed the vortices created by large waves. The wave is not explicitly named though it seems likely to have been Palikir Pass off the island of Pohnpei (one of the four states of the Federated Sates of Micronesia).
If you are able it is recommended to watch this video in HD.
Two miles off the north west coast of Pohnpei, Palikir Pass is a world class right hand reef pass. Until quite recently Palikir Pass was a jealously guarded secret. Those who stumbled upon this gem kept it to themselves only sharing the knowledge with trusted friends. Over time word got out, articles appeared in surf magazines (describing the wave as “the world’s best right” and “the world’s most perfect wave”), surf camps set up shop and more surfers arrived.
